so sunday's show, down at mass, for me, was HORRIBLE. well, it was somewhat okay, oh but nevermind, it was awful. the opener and for good went alright for the most part, except for those stupid squeaks. then the closer, during the drum solo, we now dance and i'm a glenda and i missed the first pose! first i was like ahh!!.. how to do it now? then i was like alright, nevermind, 8th count jump! *tink once *tink twice *tink! and down. hunch over, and become a monkey! monkey slides left, then right, then grow wings!.. i must must get the rest of the show right. first four bars after the solo ended, it was alright. then i think the part where the altos played the melody i might have played loud.. oh and i dont think i dressed the line.. dammit.
okay, you know what? i'm making a list of all the things to keep in mind when marching:
1) the notes DUH.
2) watch the drum major
3) roll steps!
4) DRESS to people
5) DRESS to yardlines
6) shoulders, flat to the front.
7) breathe in the right spots!
8) stand tall and confident of course
9) aim horn at judges box
and you know what? everytime i march, i only have probably 3 of these things in my mind at once. and then another 3 later on. for example, during the beginning fanfare the things going on in my mind: notes, breathe and trying to see the drum major through the corner of my eyes.
moving to our 2nd set: roll step, notes, dressing to the yardline
3rd: dressing to the front, notes, stepping on time and then oh yeah,
i can chelsea!4th: big roll steps back, dressing to people, notes
5: steps, notes, circle
i could go on, but there's no need.
i know its possible somehow as matt says, but its very hard! and i cant breathe!! gah.
cheerio!
