this holiday i'm supposed t read two books,
the importance of being earnest &
the birth of the republic. right now i'm reading theimportanceofbeingearnest. it's actually a play, a comedy. and it is amusing..
ALGERNON. ..What you really are is a Bunburyist. One of the most advanced Bunburyist I know.
JACK. What on earth do you mean?
ALGERON. You have invented a very useful young brother called Ernest, in order that you may be able to come up town as often as you like. I have invented an invaluable permenant invalid called Bunbury, in order that I may be able to go down into the country whenever I choose. Bunbury is perfectly invaluable. If it wasn't for Bunbury's extrodinary bad health, for instance, I wouldn't be able to dine with you at Willis's to-night, for I have been really engaged to Aunt Augusta for more than a week.
JACK. I haven't asked you to dine with me anywhere to-night.
ALGERNON. I know. You're absurdly careless about sending out sending out invitations. It is very foolish of you. Nothing annoys people much as not receiving invitations...Besides, now that I know that you to be a confirmed Bunburyist I naturally want to talk to you about about Bunburying. I want to tell you the rules.
JACK. I'm not a Bunburyist at all. If Gwendolyn accepts me, I am going to kill my brother, indeeed I think I will kill him in any case. Cecily is a little too much interested in him. It is a bore. So I am going to get rid of Ernest. And I strongly advise you too do the same with Mr... with your invalid friends who has the absurd name.
ALGERNON. Nothing will induce me to part with Bunbury, and if you ever get married, which seems to be extremely problematic, you will be very glad to know Bunbury. A man who marries without knowing Bunbury has a very tedious time..hahaha.. somehow i like that term "burburyist". okay, this guy named jack makes up an imaginary brother, ernest and is him when he's in town. but back at home in the country, he's jack but he doesn't like being stuck there with the family and stuff so he says that he's off t see ernest in town.
algernon also has an imaginary friend.. bunbury. and he's a sick friend whom algernon "visits" to get away from tea meetings with his aunt augusta.
jack likes gwendolyn and plans to propose to her but she doesn't know that ernest is his fake name and jack is his real one.
there are other funnier parts but i don't feel like quoting them because right now i'm very excited..
